The Museu de História Natural, Universidade do Porto released its first collection in the GBIF portal. The "Marine Mollusks of Augusto Nobre" contains a total of 881 occurrences, all georeferenced, sampled between 1884 and 1939. The data are available at IPT service of the Portuguese Node and through the international GBIF portal.
This specimens of marine molluscs is part of a huge collection which served as the basis for the work published between 1939-1940 "Marine Mollusks of Portugal" by Augusto Nobre, former director of the Museu de História Natural, Universidade do Porto.
The collection available in the GBIF portal consists of dried shells from specimens of the Mollusca phylum, belonging to 4 distinct classes: Gastropoda, Polyplacophora, Bivalvia and Cephalopoda. All of them were collected along the Portuguese coast and most specimens have location information and sampling date.
This collection has been reviewed by Rolanda Matos in the late 1990s, which latter published the catalogue that serves as resource citation of the collection: Matos R. M. A., 2007.
