This course is part of the project GBIF.PT – Portuguese Biodiversity Data Management Centre, and is a cooperation with FAIRway, another competence center, within the scope of the National Programme for Open Science and Open Research Data (PN CADAI). Learn about FAIR principles applied to biodiversity data in the context of GBIF.

Description
In this hands-on workshop we will revisit the FAIR principles in all of its dimensions (data governance, technical aspects), in the scope of biodiversity data. For this, we will use as an example GBIF, the largest global species events and occurrence data infrastructure. Participants are invited to bring their laptops to explore the tools that are used to publish and use biodiversity data, and check for their FAIR compliance.
Requirements
No general prior experience on GBIF data publishing or data use is necessary. To perform R and python exercises, experience in these platforms is required. Participants are invited to bring laptops.
