The Portuguese Node of GBIF will organize the 8th European GBIF Nodes Meeting. The event will take place between 19 and 21 April in Lisbon, at Instituto Superior de Agronomia, host institution of the Portuguese Node of GBIF since last November.
The meeting, open to all collaborators of European GBIF Nodes, aims to define the contribution of the Europeans Nodes for the work program and strategic plan of GBIF globally. Among the topics covered are the use of data in the science-policy, improving the quality of data, the implementation of Nodes portals, to promote open data in the private sector and the preparation of a curriculum in biodiversity informatics.
The meeting will take place between the 19th (afternoon) and 21th of April, and will be preceded on 18th and 19th (morning) by a hand-on Workshop on sample-based data publication. Since 2015, GBIF supports the publication of such data, with the use of more fields of the DarwinCore standard, in addition to the occurrence of data, also called presence-only data. The programme of the 8th European GBIF Nodes Meeting also includes two social events and a visit to the Botanical Garden of Ajuda, ending in the last day with an excursion to the Arrábida Natural Park.
All information is available on the event page through which more information will be given about the meeting agenda.
